Our aim is to make available YouTube videos
introducing major themes of Arabic logic that don't
require much background knowledge of Arabic
logic but are not readily available in the published
literature.
1. Three short videos making up a lecture delivered by Wilfrid Hodges to the Nordic Online Logic Seminar on 24 May 2021, on how the youthful Avicenna set about reworking the foundations of Aristotle's modal logic so as to defend some logical theses that he proposed in opposition to Aristotle.
3. A group of talks on aspects of Arabic logic, timed to coincide with the Congress of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science and Technology (CLMPST) in Buenos Aires in July 2023 (though not part of the programme of CLMPST).
Saloua Chatti, ‘Logical oppositions in Avicenna’s modal logic’ (analysis of logical oppositions between singular and quantified modal propositions and the figures they give rise to):

Wilfrid Hodges, ‘Avicenna’s new hypothetical logic’ (a description of how Avicenna created his new ‘recombinant hypothetical’ logic in his teenage Shorter Epitome in Logic,
probably in around AD 994):

Seyed N. Mousavian, 'Avicenna on the universality of the impossibilia'(presenting evidence that The Letter on the Soul, which is commonly
attributed to Avicenna, disagrees with him on fundamental points and so
should not be attributed to him):
